Westonaria police pays Venterspos Primary a visit

Learners were sensitised on discipline, bullying, theft, drugs, human trafficking, cybercrime and substance abuse, and all crime in general.

Westonaria police officers increased visibility at schools within their policing precinct and strengthened their Adopt-a-cop visits.

This was after they embarked on a school safety awareness campaign at Venterspos Primary School recently.

Sergeant Audrey Sefara of the Westonaria Police Department stated that this was done to combat societal issues and the criminal element.

“The visit aimed to educate learners about criminal activities on the school premises. Learners were sensitised on discipline, bullying, theft, drugs, human trafficking, cybercrime and substance abuse, and all crime in general. They were also urged to speak out whenever they phase challenges at school or even at home.

We also informed them of our mandate as police officers which is to protect and support them when they feel vulnerable,” added Sefara.

She added that the learners were encouraged to take their school work seriously as education is their passport to the future.
