Home invaders flee as Greenhills resident screams

A home invasion on Saturday night in Greenhills was thwarted when the resident began screaming, Mapogo A Mathamaga Security reported.

Suspects gained entry to a house in Greenhills by forcing open the safety gate as well as the front door on Saturday night, February 18 in one of four serious incidents reported to Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Rand West City for the period Monday, February 13 to Sunday, February 19.

The security company’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen explained the above-mentioned incident took place at about 19:16.

“The resident noticed the suspects and started screaming. At this point, the alarm sounded and the suspects fled the scene. No arrests were made,” stated Danie.

Details about other incidents:

1. Tuesday, February 14 at 11:04 – Housebreaking and theft at the corner of Tambotie Street and Tulbach Avenue, Culemborgpark:

Suspects gained entry by unscrewing a wooden window and went on to steal one laptop, one CCTV monitor, one music mixer, and an unknown amount of alcohol. No arrests were made.

2. Wednesday, February 15 at 13:58 – Housebreaking and theft in Anthony Street, West Porges:

Suspects gained entry by moving roof tiles and entering through the ceiling. An unknown number of items were stolen. No arrests were made.

3. Friday, February 17 at 07:24 – Housebreaking in Parklane Street, Randfontein CBD

Suspects gained entry by removing steel air vents but fled the scene when the alarm sounded. No arrests were made.
