Woman kills boyfriend after fight in Homelake

A young woman has been charged with murder after she killed her boyfriend following an altercation in Homelake.

A 31-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of her boyfriend in Homelake.

The incident occurred at about midnight on 15th Street last Thursday, February 2.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks said the victim was declared dead at the scene.

“It was alleged her 36-year-old boyfriend came home from work under the influence of alcohol. He started to fight with his girlfriend with his fists for no reason.

“The girlfriend then grabbed a bottle, broke it, and stabbed the victim in the neck. The emergency services were contacted and declared the victim dead on the scene,” said Sergeant Hendricks who added that a case of murder was opened.

Acting Randfontein Police Station Commander Colonel Hazel Makhafola pleaded with the community not to use violence and rather walk away when they argue.

He also urged members of the community to make use of the Victim Friendly Room at the Randfontein Police if they need to.
