School spokesperson Mariska du Plessis said proudly that it has been approximately seven years since the school last had a scholar patrol. The learners who will be carrying out the duties were identified last year.
“The schools deputy principal Olga Magudulela started this initiative and is the teacher responsible for these learners. The school has taken this initiative not only to provide safer access to learners crossing the roads but also to inspire patrollers to develop positive relationships with peers, authority figures and to develop skills, teamwork, maturity and a sense of responsibility,” said Magudulela.

Mariska added that they also had a traffic officer, Neo Oepeng, who visited the school to talk to learners about road safety. She then handed out scholar patrol uniforms for them to be visible in the roads.
