Stop GBV: Three youthful artists release touching song

Three teens who share the dream of going big in music released a song, Stop GBV, which is about the scourge of gender-based violence that is plaguing the country.

Three artists from Simunye, Tshiamo Kokome, 15, Neo Kokome, 15, and Neo Mhlomi, 16, have come together and released a song about the scourge of gender-based violence that is plaguing the country.

They call themselves the Westside entertainers and is reaching for the stars when it comes to their talent. They gravitate towards the Hip Hop and Amapiano genre and their song is titled, Stop GBV. Speaking to the Herald in an interview, the trio’s manager, Thuso Makau, said the group was formed in 2020.

“The boys met during soccer team practise and realised that they share the same dream. It all started as they were playing like other kids did. They used their smart phones to download music applications and video applications. They’d use this to record their songs and videos and one of them even borrowed a home theatre system from his father, including an amplifier, sound mixer, speakers and a laptop.

“This is a symbol of how hungry they are for success and as a music group, they are planning on producing encouraging and inspiring music, as well as collaborating with other artists,” Makau said.

He added the group would like to share the stage with famous musicians in future and they are confident that their names will be on everyone’s lips soon.
They are, however, in need of studio equipment and will appreciate any form of assistance.
