Two women hijacked, kidnapped after visiting club; one victim raped

Two women fell prey to kidnapping, robbery and hijacking while one of them was raped after visiting a club in Westonaria during the weekend.

Three suspects are wanted by the Westonaria Police for robbery, kidnapping and hijacking.

The crime occurred in Bridges Street, Westonaria on Saturday, December 3.

According to West Rand District Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane, two victims were travelling from a club in the Central Business District (CBD) when the incident occurred. He said one of the suspects is also wanted in connection with raping one of the victims.

“One of the victims parked her vehicle next to one of the houses on Bridges Street, Westonaria as she was dropping off a friend. They were travelling from a club in the CBD and decided to sit in the car for a while. That’s when three suspects pounced on them and demanded cash and cell phones. The suspects then proceeded to drive off with the victims and stopped at a place that looks like a mine dump. That’s when one of the suspects raped one of the women, while waiting for the two other suspects who decided to drive off with one of the victims,” said Sebonyane.

He added that while waiting, one of the victim’s spotted a police vehicle and screamed for help. The suspect then fled the scene and a case was opened.

“The suspects are unknown at this stage. We appealing to the public to assist with the information that could lead to the arrest of the the perpetrators. Anyone with information may contact police on Crime Stop Number 08600 10111 or send an anonymous information via mySAPS App that can be downloaded on any smart phone or send an SMS to 32211.”

West Rand District Police Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana also urged the community of the West Rand to drink responsibly and refrain from walking or driving alone during the night as they end up being victims of crime.

“Alcohol abuse is a crime generator around the West Rand District. Victims would visit liquor places until late and when they have to move from one place to another they fall prey to perpetrators either by rape, robbery or hijacking. Let us unite in the fight against crime,” he concluded.
