Suspect on the run after shooting at night club

Randfontein Police are on the hunt for a suspect who fired at least three gunshots at a man following an argument at a local night club.

Randfontein Police has launched a manhunt for a male suspect who is wanted in connection with a shooting incident outside Calabash Hotel, which also functions as a night club in Homelake.

This comes after the suspect had an argument with another patron at the establishment on December 2 at about 03:00 which led to security guards intervening.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks said shortly after this, the suspect went to his vehicle and took out a firearm.

“The suspect went to his vehicle, took out a firearm and fired three shots towards the victim. The victim was not injured and only reported the matter later during the day,” said Sergeant Hendricks.

She added that the complainant managed to get the address of the suspect and gave this information to the police.

They then went to the said location and upon arrival at Oasis Manor, the police only found the suspect’s girlfriend. The premises were searched and a firearm was found with three magazines. The firearm is said to have belonged to the girlfriend’s late father and she never handed it to the police nor applied for a firearm license.

She was the arrested for the unlicensed firearm and ammunition and the case is still under investigation.

The boyfriend is still on the run and police are urging members of the public to come forward if they have any information about his whereabouts.

They can be contacted on 011 414 4992 or can make use of the MYSAPS APP or the crime stop number on 08600 10111 to report anonymously.
