Get ready for the annual RPA Christmas Lights Competition!

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) Christmas Lights Competition will again take place from December 1 to 23. Here's how to enter and vote.

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) will once again be hosting a Christmas Lights Competition from December 1 to 23, and they are inviting everyone in town to join in to make Randfontein as festive as possible during this year’s festive season and to lift the spirits of everyone in and around town.

Jan and Louise Janse van Rensburg of 32 Springbok Street, Greenhills were chosen as the winners of last year’s Christmas Lights Competition.

“It’s already a regular institution and half a tradition. That’s actually the biggest reason why we decided it should be held again because the people look forward to seeing the lights and having the Christmas feeling,” said chairperson of the RPA Matiam van Vuuren.

So it’s time to dust off those Christmas lights and start decorating your home for all to see, because after a terrible and dreary few years it’s time to brighten up the town and share some festive season smiles.

The prizes are as follows:

• First place will receive R2 000 cash
• Second place will receive R1 000 cash
• Third place will receive R500 cash

How to enter and vote:

Participants should take a photo of their decorated home at night (exterior only) and WhatsApp it to Matiam on 084 411 2512 or email to maggie@randfonteininfo.co.za together with their name and physical address by no later than December 23. Early in January 2023, a slide show of official participating houses will be created on the Randfontein Publicity Association’s Facebook page, where the public will be asked to cast their votes.

Voters who are not on Facebook can take a photo of the house they consider a worthy winner and WhatsApp it or email it to Matiam. Only one vote per person will be counted. Duplicate votes will not be counted. Voting will close on January 6.

Winners (by majority vote) will be notified telephonically.

• Enquiries: Contact Matiam on 084 411 2512.
