Two killed, four injured as vehicle rolls

Two people were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in rolled on the R500 on September 1.

Two people were killed and four others injured when their vehicle rolled off the R500 approximately 10km outside Carletonville on Thursday morning, September 1.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said their paramedics arrived on the scene to find the Provincial EMS and another service already in attendance.

Six patients were already extricated from the vehicle. Medics assessed the patients and found that one person had sustained fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead by the Provincial EMS. One patient was in critical condition, while four others had sustained moderate to serious injuries.

“Medics treated the patients and provided the critically injured patient with advanced life support interventions. After treatment, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further care. Unfortunately, upon arrival at the hospital, the critically injured patient succumbed to their injuries.”

The local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
