Police launch manhunt for rape suspect

A person of interest linked to a rape case in Zuurbekom has been exposed via an identikit.

Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect believed to be involved in the rape a 49-year-old woman from Zuurbekom.

The crime was committed at about 19:49 on Sunday, July 31.

According to Bekkersdal Police spokesperson Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, “The victim was walking to the tuck shop when she was suddenly approached by an unknown man.

He grabbed her and dragged her to the nearest darkest corner in the area and raped her.”

She added that the victim rushed home after the ordeal and contacted the police. She was able to compile an identity kit of the suspect.

According to information received, the suspect is said to be between the ages of 21 and 25, dark in complexion, of slender build and was wearing a black hooded jacket with white fur inside.
