Police educate the community of Randfontein

They also addressed gender-based violence, burglaries, murders, hijackings, theft and other crimes.

The Randfontein Police Station together with 13 others in the West Rand District joined hands on Wednesday, July 27 to make sure that communities were educated about crime and that discipline remain instilled at schools.

West Rand District Police spokesperson Sergeant Gloria Maswanganye said the Randfontein Police station commander Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela led the group and visited Randfontein High School in Greenhills and conducted a school search on Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners. The aim of the search was to reduce violence in schools and ensure the safety of teachers and learners.

“The team continued with their integrated efforts to curb crime by engaging with the community of Mohlakeng Extension 5 and Shoprite. They also addressed gender-based violence, burglaries, murders, hijackings, theft and other crimes,” said Maswanganye.

Approximately 300 pamphlets were distributed during the day.

“On behalf of District Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana, Brigadier Manamela thanked all the members who participated and also urged the community of Randfontein to make sure that they remain safe at all times,” concluded Maswanganye.
