It was a relatively busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said seven incidents were reported for the period between Monday, May 2 and Sunday, May 8.
A breakdown of the incidents:
• Monday, May 2 at 03:17 – Housebreaking, Toringsberg Street, Finsbury. Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises by climbing over the neighbours’ wall. They forced open a sliding door and attempted to steal the TV, but the owner surprised them and they fled the scene.
• Monday, May 2 at 15:40 – Housebreaking and theft, Tafelberg Street, Finsbury. Perpetrators broke into the owner’s outbuilding and stole a generator, inverter and batteries.
• Monday, May 2 at 23:33 – Attempted murder, Riebeeck Road, Homelake. Mapogo officers found a man lying in the road and it was confirmed that he was shot during a street robbery.
• Wednesday, May 4 at 21:14 – Death, Buiten Street, Randgate. Mapogo was contacted to assist with an ambulance as a male was suffering a heart attack, but he unfortunately passed away. Our heartfelt condolences to the family during this heart-breaking time.
• Friday, May 6 at 03:15 – Theft of motor vehicle, Nightingale Street, Greenhills. Mapogo was informed that perpetrators had stolen a vehicle from the complex.
• Friday, May 6 at 14:15 – Housebreaking and theft, Kenneth Avenue, Greenhills. Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises by climbing over the front wall. They attempted to remove a window at the lounge but failed to gain entry. They then broke a window at the bedroom and stole jewellery and other loose items from the house.
• Sunday, May 8 at 21:16 – Attempted theft out of motor vehicle and arrest, Ewart Street, Homelake. Mapogo was alerted that a perpetrator had broken a vehicle window and attempted to steal items from the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and taken to the police station for further investigation.
