Sun, fun and good rolling vibes during Freedom Day bowls

The Randfontein Bowling Club hosted a great Freedom Day event, followed by a delicious potjie to feed the hungry players.

Numerous people came together at the Randfontein Bowling Club on a sunny Freedom Day, Wednesday, April 27 to play a game of bowls and enjoy the public holiday.

The bowling greens were busy with 24 players showing off their skills. There were mother-and-daughter teams, first-time players, men against women, and friends against friends.

Bowling Club committee member Geoff Behrent said there were some close games and some not so close ones, and that the whole day that was arranged at the last minute was a huge success.

The format was selected pairs, and altogether everyone had a great time,” Geoff said.

The day wouldn’t have been a success without music provided by Skippie Scheepers to get the flow going.

The winners were Deon Snyman and Jacky Peens, and Martinus and Nikki Botha finished second.

After a great game of bowls in the Autumn heat it’s normal to feel your stomach rumbling, and club president Vera Pretorius made sure that no one would go hungry by cooking up a storm and serving a delicious potjie that was enjoyed by all.
