Toekies gets cleaned … by youngsters

A group of young community members want others in the community to get involved with this initiative to achieve a neat neighbourhood.

A group of young Toekies residents aim to inspire the rest of town with their clean-up initiative they are busy with in the community.

Randy Christian said the young people spend between four to five hours daily trying to tidy up as much of the overgrown areas as possible, especially at the Engen Filling Station and shopping centre where they try to keep things neat and clean.

On Saturdays they turn their focus to the dire condition of the Toekomsrus Cemetery.

Their work is currently being hindered by the lack of garden tools and refreshments,” said Randy.

He said local businesses like Chill and Chow Takeaways and Dean’s Butcher occasionally provide food to the group while they clean.
