Bodies found, shooting in Kocksoord one of seven incidents in five days

Mapogo released its latest crime report which totals seven serious incidents, again mostly housebreaking and theft including a shooting incident on Market Street, Kocksoord.

According to Operations Manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse, seven incidents were reported for the period Monday, April 4 to Sunday, April 10.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Tuesday, April 5 at 01:57 – Housebreaking and theft on Tulbach Avenue, Culemborgpark: Perpetrators forced open the safety gate and door to gain entry, stole items from the shop and fled the scene.

• Tuesday, April 5 at 09:06 – Attempted housebreaking on Taaibos Street, Greenhills: Perpetrators lifted the gate from the rail to gain entry onto the property, and proceeded to the TV room where they broke a window. The alarm activated and they fled the scene.

• Wednesday, April 6 at 07:58 – Attempted break-in on Village Street, Randfontein CBD: On arrival at the premises it was found that the roller door locks had been cut but no access was gained.

• Thursday, April 7 at 14:12 – House robbery on Cederberg Road, Finsbury: On arrival at the premises contact was made with the domestic worker who confirmed that three to four males armed with handguns had kicked down the door and held her hostage whilst they ransacked the house. The robbers fled the scene with household goods.

• Friday, April 8 at 03:50 – Theft on Steyr Street, Aureus: Perpetrators gained entry to the premises by cutting the fence. They stole two trailer wheels.

• Saturday, April 9 at 10:50 – Housebreaking on Condor Drive, Helikonpark: Perpetrators removed a precast slab from a wall, proceeded to the garage and opened the door. When the alarm activated they fled the scene.

• Saturday, April 9 at 23:26 – Shooting incident on Market Street, Kocksoord: A client reported gunshots coming from their neighbours’ house. On arrival the premises was inspected and two bodies were found in the bedroom. The scene was handed over to the police for further investigation.
