Housebreaking still number-one crime in town – Mapogo crime report

Mapogo released its latest crime report which totals six serious incidents, most for housebreaking and theft once again.

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security released its latest crime report for their client base in Rand West City.

According to Operations Manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse, six incidents were reported for the period Monday, March 28 to Sunday, April 3.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Monday, March 28 at 07:10 – Damage to property on Union Street, Randgate: On arrival at the premises the Response Officers were informed that a vehicle had driven into the shop’s front door and damaged it.

• Thursday, March 31 at 04:31 – Housebreaking and theft on Road 7, Tenacres: Perpetrators damaged the fence and proceeded to the house where they gained entry through a window and stole a flat-screen television.

• Thursday, March 31 at 16:37 – Shoplifting and arrest on Union Street, Randgate: A suspect who allegedly stole a bottle of liquor from the store was pointed out to the officers. The suspect was arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation.

• Thursday, March 31 at 18:10 – Attempted theft on Maugham Street, Randfontein CBD: When perpetrators attempted to steal a window frame from the premises the guard spotted them and they fled the scene.

• Friday, April 1 at 02:14 – Housebreaking and theft on Moorhen Road, Helikonpark: Perpetrators gained entry onto the property over the perimeter wall. They proceeded to the lounge, broke a window and stole 2 x laptops and a flat-screen television that was recovered outside.

• Friday, April 1 at 02:38 – Housebreaking on Tulbach Avenue, Culemborgpark: It was established that a window on the side of the premises was opened and access was gained. It could not be established if any items had been stolen.
