Woman raped after accepting a lift

Wanted: Police ID person of interest in rape case in Luipaardsvlei.

The Randfontein Police and Krugersdorp Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) have released an identity kit of a suspect wanted for allegedly raping a 36-year-old woman last month.

West Rand District Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks said the crime was committed on Friday, February 18 in Luipaardsvlei after the victim was given a lift by the suspect.

“Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the person of interest in the identity kit or who has any other information that may assist with the investigation is urged to contact the police in Randfontein on 011 414 4992; detective Constable Lenyai on 011 951 1729 or 073 915 3918; Crime Stop 08600 10111; or alternatively leave an anonymous tip-off on the My SAPS app,” Hendricks said.
