The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of March 12 sits at 1 199 728 with 1 174 093 recoveries and 20 598 deaths.

A total number of 1 117 people are currently hospitalised in the public (636) and private (481) facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 65 088 with 63 082 recoveries and 1 754 deaths. This translates to a total of 252 active cases.

A total of 9 176 192 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of March 12. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 637 066.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 638 009 vaccinations have been administered, with 321 133 individuals fully vaccinated.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 902 598 vaccines have been administered with 1 909 993 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days. All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
