Bekkersdal Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the body of an unknown woman was found run over on the N12 along Zuurbekom.

Bekkersdal Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after an unknown woman was found dead on the N12 along Zuurbekom on Thursday February 17.

Police said given the state of the body when it was discovered, the victim had been run over by multiple vehicles before the matter was reported to the police.

The body was in a bad shape, but police found a black T-shirt and floral woman’s flip-flop sandal. It was taken to Carletonville Government Mortuary,” Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said.

Lefakane said preliminary investigations were conducted, but police could not establish the victim’s identity.

“We are appealing to the public to assist with information that could lead to the identification of the victim and tracking down her next of kin.
