Randfontein Police are investigating a case of armed robbery after three armed thugs invaded Councillor Dreyer's house and assaulted two members of his family.

Robbers struck at a Toekomsrus councillor’s house last week and stole their belongings. The councillor’s wife and son were assaulted in the process.

Randfontein Police confirmed to the Herald that a case of armed robbery is being investigated after three armed thugs targeted the home of Councillor Balderic Dreyer on Thursday February 17.

Dreyer, 49, is a DA ward councillor and Chief Whip of the DA Caucus in Rand West City. He said the incident happened at around 21:00 while his wife and their three children were home.

Dreyer said besides his family going through the traumatic ordeal of a home invasion the three robbers also stole his son’s cellphone and a TV remote control. It is believed they then fled in a silver Mercedes-Benz C Class.
