Dog poisoning in Eikepark, shooting in Greenhills – Mapogo’s latest crime report

Mapogo released its latest crime report for the third week of the new year which included theft, a shooting in Greenhills and dog poisoning in Eikepark.

It was a relatively busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with numerous serious incidents being reported for their client base.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said these incidents were reported for the period between Monday, January 17 and Sunday, January 23.

A breakdown of the crime incidents:

• Monday, January 17 at 02:49 – Housebreaking and theft on Cederberg Street, Finsbury: Thieves gained entry to the property and forced open the lounge window. They stole a flat-screen television and fled the scene.

• Friday, January 21 at 03:49 – Theft on Drakenstein Street, Finsbury: Thieves stole four gas bottles from the premises and fled the scene.

• Friday, January 21 at 06:37 – Dog poisoning on Hansie Kotze Street, Eikepark: Thugs gained entry to the premises and poisoned the owner’s dog.

• Friday, January 21 at 18:51 – Housebreaking and arrest on Bussing Street, Aureus: An intruder gained entry to the premises by lifting the electric fence wires with a stick, and climbed onto the roof of the warehouse where entry was gained. The thief filled a large bag with clothing and attempted to escape. On arrival Mapogo officers inspected the premises and the suspect was found hiding on the roof of the warehouse. An arrest was made, all stolen items were recovered, and the suspect was handed over to the police for further investigation.

• Sunday, January 23 at 17:42 – Shooting incident at Hackney Place, Greenhills: Mapogo was informed by a client that shots had been fired in the area. Mapogo officers found the premises where there was a shooting incident. The ambulance services and police were contacted and the scene was handed over to the police for further investigation.
