Covid-19 active cases, vaccination numbers to date on West Rand

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of January 19 sits at1 157 777 with 1 128 646 recoveries and 20 372 deaths.

A total number of 2 508 people are currently hospitalised in the public (1 384) and private (1 124) facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 62 794 with 60 650 recoveries and 1 738 deaths. This translates to a total of 406 active cases.

A total of 8 123 509 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of January 19. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 217 635.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 557 334 vaccinations have been administered, with 290 363 individuals fully vaccinated.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 497 041 vaccines have been administered with 1 742 893 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days.

All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
