Bekkersdal police officers promoted to higher ranks

Nine Bekkersdal Police constables were promoted recently.

Nine Bekkersdal Police constables were promoted to the rank of sergeant after ten years in the service.

In her congratulatory message to the members, Bekkersdal Police station commander Colonel Phumelele Matamela said the members were recognised for showing patience, persistence and perseverance – qualities that have truly led them to this success.

You are now mid-level managers who will have to manage junior constables and ensure that law and order is maintained. You will be expected to act and conduct yourself as superiors. We expect your participation and commitment in the fight against crime,” Colonel Phumelele said.

She further reminded members always to act professionally, abide by the South African Police Service (SAPS) code of conduct, act impartially and in a responsible manner.

According to Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, members were very excited and eager to wear their new rank structures, and also vowed to bring about change and serve the community of Bekkersdal with integrity and accountability.
