Hullet Hild the chosen one to lead West Rand District Municipality

The new Mayor, Speaker and Chief Whip of the West Rand District Municipality have been chosen, and all three are members of the DA.

The Democratic Alliance’s Councillor Hullet Hild was voted in as the new Mayor of the West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) during their inaugural meeting on Wednesday, January 12.

DA Gauteng Provincial Leader Solly Msimanga said in a statement that the DA was pleased to announce the election of Hild as the Executive Mayor of the WRDM; Councillor Gerhard Kruger as Speaker; and Councillor Alme Swart the Chief Whip – all of whom are DA members.

The DA won these positions through the support of other opposition parties,” Msimanga explained and added that they have full confidence in the newly elected team.

“Although the task ahead of them will be tough, we believe they are more than capable of turning things around and getting things done in the West Rand.”

Msimanga said that in the coming days they would announce their plans on how they intend to get things done and restore good governance.
