Mapogo reveals five serious crime incidents this past week as housebreaking and theft continue

Five serious incidents were reported by Mapogo's client base this past week, including the assault of a domestic worker during a house robbery and theft in Greenhills.

It was yet another busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with five serious crime incidents being reported in Randfontein for the period from Monday, December 6 to Sunday, December 12.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse gave a breakdown of the crime incidents:

• Tuesday, December 7 at 12:34 – Housebreaking and theft on The Green Street, Robinpark: Mapogo Response officers found that intruders had lifted the main gate and then forced open the front safety gate and door. A flat-screen TV was stolen and the thieves fled the scene in a silver Toyota Corolla.

• Friday, December 10 at 14:02 – Housebreaking and theft on Flamink Street, Helikonpark: Intruders forced open the kitchen window security bar whilst the owner’s daughter was asleep inside the house. They stole a laptop computer and a small TV, and fled the scene.

• Friday, December 10 at 15:03 – House robbery on Oribi Street, Greenhills: Thugs entered the premises in an unknown manner and found the back door not locked. The domestic worker was busy inside a room when the intruders grabbed her, assaulted her and held her up with knives. A flat-screen TV and surround-sound equipment were stolen and the robbers fled the scene. The domestic worker contacted her employer and informed him of the incident. Mapogo officers attended the scene and searched the area for possible suspects.

• Saturday, December 11 at 07:07 – Housebreaking and theft on Main Reef Road, Randfontein CBD: Intruders forced open a back window and burglar bars, and gained entry into the premises. The safe was forced open and as per the owner a large amount of cash was stolen. No alarm signals were received by Mapogo at the time of the incident.

• Sunday, December 12 at 08:59 – Housebreaking and an arrest on the R47 road, Brandvlei: On arrival contact was made with the owner who confirmed that burglars had broken into the shop from the rear by making a hole in a wall. They also disabled the alarm system. Cash and liquor were stolen from the store and the suspects fled the scene.
