RPA Christmas Lights Competition: Three days to the start!

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) Christmas Lights Competition will again take place from December 1 to 31. Here's how to enter and vote.

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) will once again be hosting a Christmas Lights Competition from December 1 to 31, and invites homeowners in the Rand West City municipal area to help create a festive atmosphere by decorating the exterior of their homes and adding some sparkle to the town.

Leandri Janse van Rensburg and Hennie Naude of 32 Springbok Street, Greenhills were chosen as the winners of last year’s Christmas Lights Competition.

“The idea of the competition is to create a sense of community and to help lift people’s spirits after another difficult and stressful year,” said RPA Publicity Officer Joy Hamann.

Last year’s competition was a great success and the feedback from participants and the town’s residents was extremely positive. Several 2020 participants reported that when they saw the delight and awe on the children’s faces when looking at the lights, it made them feel good and happy that they had done their bit to brighten other people’s lives,” said Joy.

So take those Christmas lights and decorations out of storage, dust them and add some sparkle to your neighbourhood – this is an ideal opportunity for homeowners to show off their creativity and sense of community.

The first-place winner will receive a hamper to the value of

R1 500, the second-place hamper is worth R1 000, and the third-place hamper is valued at R500.

How to enter and vote:

Participants should take a photo of their decorated home at night (exterior only) and WhatsApp it to Joy on 082 852 1860 or email to joy@randfonteininfo.co.za together with their name and physical address by no later than December 31. Early in January 2022, a slide show of officially participating houses will be created on the Randfontein Publicity Association Facebook page, where the public will be asked to cast their votes.

Voters who are not on Facebook can take a photo of the house they consider a worthy winner and WhatsApp it to 082 852 1860 or email to joy@randfonteininfo.co.za. Only one vote per person will be counted. Duplicate votes will not be counted. Voting will close on January 7.

Winners (by majority vote) will be notified telephonically and prizes will be delivered to them. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash.
