UPDATE: Ambulance crashes near school in Riebeeck; driver taken to hospital

Driver of ambulance transported to hospital after he allegedly lost control and crashed near a local high school.

The Herald wishes to confirm that it was in fact an ambulance that rolled and crashed near a local high school in Riebeeck on Tuesday afternoon, October 12.

According to Damian Grenfell from First Help Towing Services, they received a call at about 13:58 about a Vuka ambulance lying on its side at the junction of Van Riebeeck Road and Jacaranda Street.

“Other emergency services arrived on scene to transport the injured driver to a hospital,” Grenfell said.

The driver of a light motor vehicle was transported to hospital after he allegedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed near a local high school. The accident happen at the junction of Van Riebeeck Road and Jacaranda Street on Tuesday afternoon, October 12.

The Herald was informed on scene that the injured driver had been transported to Leratong Hospital.

The Rand West City Traffic Department as well as Randfontein Fire and Rescue Services officials were on scene.
