Active cases remain steady in Rand West City
The number of active Covid-19 cases in the Rand West City region remained steady in the Gauteng Department of Health's latest update.
As at October 4, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Rand West City stood at 14 281. A total of 13 753 people have recovered so far and there has been 514 Covid-19 related deaths. This brings the total number of active cases in the area to 14.
Mogale City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have had 29 391 and 10 169 cases respectively. Mogale City and Merafong City have seen 28 554 and 9 783 recoveries respectively.
The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the West Rand District is 53 848 with 1 696 deaths and 52 092 recoveries. This brings the total number of active cases in the District down to 60.
In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases to date stands at 52 933 and 52 164 recoveries.
The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng was standing at 916 930 with 896 139 recoveries and 19 407 deaths. A total number of 1 972 people are currently hospitalised in the public (599) and private (1 373) facilities.
A total of 4 765 385 vaccines have been administered in the Gauteng province as at October 4.
