A staggering 25 incidents reported in last week of August – EPR crime report

Theft was again on top of the list with nine incidents being reported. Break-ins and trespassing were next on the list – two incidents of domestic violence also reported.

A total of 25 incidents were reported across Rand West City according to EPR Security’s latest crime report for the period Monday August 23 to Sunday August 29.

EPR general manager Johan Krogh said at least 14 incidents occurred at residences followed by seven at businesses and four at schools.

Theft topped the list with nine incidents being reported.

Theft occurred at a residence on Betty Street, Greenhills; a business on Main Street, Randfontein CBD; a business on Greenhills Street, Greenhills; a residence on Louis Street, Loumarina; a residence on Watting Street, Hillside; a residence on Da Gama Street, Culemborg Park; a residence on Ivan Street, Homelake; a business on Sutherland Street, Randfontein CBD; and a residence on Mnisi Street, Mohlakeng.

Break-ins were next on the list with five incidents.

The incidents reported to EPR during the week of August 23 to 29 echo the crime stats released by the police for the first quarter of this year. Theft at residential and business properties remain a concern.

“A CIT robbery was also reported where an innocent bystander was fatally wounded. Break-ins at schools also remain a concern. We urge residents to make sure that their alarm systems are in full working condition,” stated Krogh.
