Sixteen incidents for Rand West City, mostly robberies, damage to property – EPR

Robbery topped the list, with four incidents being reported followed by damage to property and break-ins, with three incidents each.

A total of 16 incidents were reported across Rand West City, according to EPR Security’s latest crime report for the period from Monday August 9 to Sunday August 15.

EPR general manager Johan Krogh said at least nine incidents occurred at residences, followed by four at businesses, two at schools and one at a substation.

Robbery topped the list, with four incidents being reported.

Robberies occurred at a school on Van der Stel Street in Westonaria; a business on President Kruger Street in Westonaria; a residence on a farm in Vogelstruisfontein; and a business on Neptune Street in Borwa.

Damage to property and break-ins were next on the list, with three incidents each.

“We are able to report a decline in incidents this past week, but attempted break-ins and break-ins remain a concern. The bad weather and especially strong winds also contributed to damage to properties.”

Krogh said two armed robberies were reported to them, and they are urging learners who walk to and from school to be vigilant, and to ensure that if they carry a cell phone to rather hide it out of sight.
