Double tragedy as woman, 100, and her son-in-law die from Covid-19

Melanie Lapham said her dad was a teddy bear and a true gentleman, and would not hesitate to help everyone he could.

Another Randfontein family is heartbroken after losing two beloved members just two days apart due to Covid-19.

Andrew Collins, who was described as a gentle giant, passed away at the age of 73 on Friday, July 2 after an 11-day battle with Covid-19. Two days later, at the age of 100, Andrew’s mother-in-law, Phyllis Liebenberg also passed away from Covid-19 related complications.

Both lived in Bootha Plots.

Andrew had a passion for old cars, loved cooking and doing a spit braai. The community, family and friends will miss them both dearly.
