A total of 350kg dog food, 24 blankets plus R3 000 cash were officially handed over to the RandWest SPCA by management of MyRide Nissan and Datsun in Randfontein on Friday, July 16.
This after the dealership used its premises as drop-off point for Rand West City residents to donate items to help the cash-strapped animal NGO.

MyRide Nissan and Datsun Randfontein sales manager, Theo van der Walt thanked every person who has done their bit not only to help the SPCA keep its doors open, but also to ensure that animals are well taken care of.
“We really appreciate what they’ve done. It took us a month to do all this, and although we had a few hiccups regarding Covid-19, we’re still proud to have made such a difference to the SPCA,” Van der Walt said.
He said animals cannot speak for themselves, that’s why residents have come in numbers to be their mouthpieces to make such a big difference for the creatures.

René van Straten, inspector at the RandWest SPCA praised all who made donations.
“Thanks to MyRide Nissan and Datsun in Randfontein for coordinating efforts to help us. We say thank you to people who have made contributions, every single contribution will add up and go a long way to help.
“Without community support we would not be able to carry on the work we are doing. The animals do not only need the SPCA; they need the whole community and its support,” Van Straten said.
