Covid-19 in Rand West City: 332 people have lost their lives due to the virus

The total number of active Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 5 528 according to the latest report by the Gauteng Provincial Government.

According to the latest report issued by the Gauteng Provincial Government, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Rand West City stood at 11 619. A total of 9 707 people have recovered so far. There has been 332 Covid-19 related deaths. This brings the total number of active cases in the area to 1 580.

Mogale City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have had 22 031 and 7 423 cases respectively. Mogale City and Merafong City have seen 18 371 and 6 323 recoveries respectively.

The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the West Rand District is 41 080 with 1 149 deaths and 34 403 recoveries. This brings the total number of active cases in the District to 5 528.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases to date stands at 36 837 and 30 383 recoveries.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng was standing at 649 494 with 551 199 recoveries and 12 887 deaths. This translates to 85 480 active cases within the Province.
