“We visited RHS simply because we wanted the senior learners to know they can have proper career choices with us and that being in the police service is not just the typical thing where you patrol and chase criminals, as popularly believed,” Manamela says.

“We have people who specialise in investigating cases and analyses. We also have those who can operate helicopters or are in the Air Wing Unit, those in the K9 Unit and even those who work with horses – this is so that people can know and understand how broad career choices in the police service can be,” Manamela says.

“No matter what your gender, everyone gets an opportunity in the police service.”

Manamela concluded by saying they would also like to take this Career Day to other local schools.

“We’d love for our children to know what options and opportunities the police can offer them,” Manamela said.
