Steep increase in active Covid-19 cases in Rand West City – now at 363

The total number of active Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 1 352 according to the latest report by the Gauteng Provincial Government.

According to the latest report issued by the Gauteng Provincial Government, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Rand West City stood at 7 705. A total of 7 101 people have recovered so far. There has been 241 Covid-19 related deaths. This brings the total number of active cases in the area to 363.

Mogale City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have had 14 514 and 5 706 cases respectively. Mogale City and Merafong City have seen 13 260 and 5 330 recoveries respectively.

The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the West Rand District is 27 932 with 887 deaths and 25 693 recoveries. This brings the total number of active cases in the District to 1 352.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases to date stands at 24 074 and 22 192 recoveries.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng was standing at 471 613 with 438 701 recoveries and 11 404 deaths. This translates to 21 508 active cases within the Province.
