Members of Women Against Women and Child Abuse (WAWA) have embarked on a mass outreach campaign to various areas in town recently.
According to Enrique Bhana, manager of the centre, residents were educated about the dangers of gender-based violence, child abuse and saying no substance abuse.
“We also ensured that we interacted with men and boys within these communities as we believe they can help eradicate these issues by being better leaders,” Bhana said.
He said areas that were visited include Mohlakeng, Toekomsrus and Afrivillage.

“As an organisation we are striving to make sure these people know about social ills because it is destroying families and ultimately breaking communities,” Bhana added.
