Dog poisonings, common theft on the increase – Mapogo warns

Dog poisoning by Aldicarb, better known as Temik or 'Two-step', is on the increase – Herman Coetzee, Operations Manager at Mapogo.

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Randfontein released its latest crime report for the period from Monday, 15 March to Tuesday, 23 March.

Herman Coetzee, Operations Manager at Mapogo said five incidents were recorded for their client base – two of common theft in Helikon Park; one of malicious damage to property and of common theft in Greenhills; as well as one of housebreaking and theft along Homestead Avenue.

“Common theft is on the increase in the Randfontein area. Thugs are stealing security devices such as lights and protection beams from premises,” Coetzee warned.

He added that they had three different incidents relating to common theft during the week.

In a separate incident an individual, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, caused damage when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wall on Kenneth Road,” said Coetzee.

Coetzee further warned that dog poisoning by Aldicarb, better known as Temik or ‘Two-step’, is on the increase.

“Should you suspect that your dogs have been poisoned, contact your vet immediately.”
