Your Christmas lights competition winners!

Congratulations to Leandri Janse van Rensburg and Hennie Naude of 32 Springbok Street, Greenhills who were chosen as the winners of the Christmas Lights Competition.

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA)/ Herald Christmas Lights Competition that was held during December certainly helped to light up the town and lift the spirits of many Randfonteiners.

“When we launched the competition, the idea was to create a sense of community and to help lift people’s spirits after a very difficult year,” said Joy Hamann, RPA Publicity Officer.

She said a total of 13 entries were received and several homeowners reported that when they saw the delight on the children’s faces, it made them feel good and happy that they had done their bit to brighten other people’s lives.

It was a great success and the feedback from members of the public and homeowners who entered confirmed that the competition had the desired effect,” she added.

Joy thanked everyone who participated in the competition, members of the public who took the time to drive around and look at the lights, as well as the sponsors who donated items for the hampers for the first, second and third place winners.

• Second place: 43 Elaine Street in Homelake
• Third Place: 7 Kingfisher Street in Helikon Park

According to Joy, some homeowners are already busy planning for the 2021 competition and said that they will be buying more lights on a monthly basis, so that come December 2021, they will be able to improve on their displays.

We would like to see more entries this year and will start promoting the competition a lot earlier,” said Joy.
