I do agree, our SOEs are in turmoil and a total disgrace. Looting and corruption are the order of the day.

Well, my experience at the SASSA office at Village Square in Randfontein on 10 December – my birthday – was an experience that ‘humbled’ me totally. I said to myself that I was going to spend most of my birthday at SASSA to apply for my pension, but I was so so wrong. I underestimated the staff and their capabilities at these offices.
I arrived at the office at approximately 8.30am. At security, Covid-19 rules were the order of the day – face masks, sanitizing and social distancing. Wow, wow, wow!
Security checked my documents and I was asked very politely to wait for a consultant to attend to me; I probably waited for five quick minutes. A young consultant, Tebogo Diale escorted me to his desk and politely asked me to have a seat.
He got going with my application. We had a meaningful and fruitful conversation. He was presentable, polite, respectful and joyful. I thought maybe, just maybe this was all happening because it’s my birthday. I was wrong again …
I never mentioned this to him and others with whom I interacted. All my paperwork with Tebogo took between 18 and 25 minutes.
He said okay, we were done, and asked me to please wait across from his desk and someone would come to me within a few minutes and hand me the necessary documents and explain all the details. Truth of the matter is, within 10 minutes, a lady came to me and did just that. My pension was approved. We were done!

In conclusion, to the staff at SASSA Randfontein, those I interacted with on that specific day I would like to say ‘Thank you’.
Tebogo Diale, you and your crew are doing an excellent job – keep up the good work you guys are doing. I cannot stop speaking about the wonderful experience I had at your offices. You made my birthday most beautiful and special.
