With a little more freedom, residents will be eager to hit the clubs, venues and streets again.

• Free Fab Fit Classes in Roodepoort – Get fitter, get stronger, get healthier and rediscover your confidence with the FAB FIT Mornings at Clearwater Mall in Strubens Valley, Roodepoort. Grab a group of your besties, and join them in Clearwater Mall’s gorgeous open-air Piazza (by the Food Court) to spend the morning having a blast while making your body stronger with an intimate group of fun, like-minded fitness fanatics – for free!

• Kloofendal educational walks – Why not spend your weekends learning about creepy crawlies, insect bites, flowers, trees and more. At the Kloofendal Ecological Centre you can do just that. The reserve hosts guided walks at just R90 per adult, R70 per pensioner and R50 per child. For more information, or to make a booking, contact Karin Spottiswoode on 079 693 5608. All Covid-19 regulations will be adhered to, and all participants must wear a mask at all times.

• Picnic at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden – The Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden on Malcolm Road, Poortview is open for picnics, bird watching and photography, walking, hiking and running. The restaurant is also open. If you wish to visit the Garden, remember to wear a mask, sanitize at the entrance and ensure social distancing. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets online on the webtickets.co.za website to limit physical contact.

22 November 2020 to 3 January 2021

• Joburg Zoo’s Festival of Lights – The City of Johannesburg and Joburg Theatre proudly present the second annual Festival of Lights, where visitors will get to enjoy the magic and beauty of enchanting, illuminated life-size animal characters that are sure to delight guests of all ages. The Joburg Zoo Festival of Lights will also offer exciting entertainment, delicious nibbles and a craft night market perfect for some festive shopping. The festival will run from 22 November to 3 January 2021, and will be open daily from 7pm to 10pm (except on Mondays). For more information, visit https://www.joburgtheatre.com/.

3 to 5 December

• Christmas experience at Real Life Church – Real Life Church, 86 Viljoen Street, Krugersdorp North, will be hosting the annual Christmas experience from 3 to 5 December. There will be a variety of stalls at the market, which opens at 5.30pm. The spectacular lights will be switched on at 7.30pm. Delicious food for sale, outdoor kids crafts, sweet shop and more! It promises to be a great evening of family festive fun. Entrance fee is R10 per person and all proceeds will go to Door of Care & Safety. All Covid-19 regulations will be adhered to. 4 to 24 December

• Wonderland of lights at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden – Gather the family and make your way to the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden this December for their beautiful display of Christmas lights. The Wonderland of Lights will be showcasing a mesmerising festive lights display complete with Christmas carols chanting in the background from 4 to 24 December from 6pm to 10pm. Tickets are R80 per adult, R70 per pensioner, R50 per child aged between six and 18, and a ticket for a family of four is R220. To get your tickets, visit https://www.miid.co.za/Events/.

12 December

• Craft Market between Magaliesburg and Rustenburg – Brauhaus Afrika will be hosting a Craft Market from 10am to 5pm. They are situated on the R24 between Magaliesburg and Rustenburg, just a short drive from the West Rand. Details: Contact 087 098 0641 or email them at info@brau.co.za.

• Rand West SPCA fun day – Come and enjoy a fun day with the SPCA situated at 32 South Married Quarters, Cnr Main Reef Road (R28) and Randfontein Road (R41) from 10am to 2pm. You are more than welcome to bring your fur baby with. There will be stalls for you to enjoy, as well as an obstacle course for your fur baby to enjoy. The purpose of the event is mainly a meet and greet between the SPCA and the community; showing the community why the SPCA is needed and why the SPCA needs the community. • Christmas Tree workshop at Garden World Nursery – Join Tarryn from To The T Wedding Company for an exciting Succulent Christmas Tree Workshop on 12 December at Garden World, Beyers Naudé Drive, Muldersdrift from 9.30am. She will show you how to plant your very own succulent Christmas tree. Tickets are R400 per person, which includes the workshop, mini succulents, moss, succulent soil, gold star, wire, mesh, cable ties, step-by-step instructions on how to make the Christmas Tree, and refreshments. A fantastic workshop for the whole family! Booking essential as space is limited due to Covid-19 regulations. 16 to 19 December

• Pop-Up Christmas Market – There will be a pop-up Christmas Market from 10am to 5pm daily at 21 Bernard Road, Poortview. Come visit the market for gifts, decor, food and much more.
