2020 taught me one thing – gratitude!

Now that the year is coming to an end, many hope that this storm will be gone for good.

The year 2020 is likely to go down in history as one of hardship for many.

Now that the year is coming to an end, many hope that this storm will be gone for good.

As many are still coming to terms with losing their loved ones, jobs and taking huge salary cuts, Joy Hamman of the Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) said there is still plenty to be thankful for.

“I am grateful that I still have a job. 2020 also taught me that life is too short, I therefore appreciate my family more than ever!” Joy said.

She added that being not extremely materialistic, she is glad to have her sanity intact.

Joy admitted to getting stressed during hard lockdown and that her faith carried her through.

“Things like listening to the sounds of the birds, admiring the beautiful sky and its clouds are simple things that make me happy,” she said.

“My hubby and I have a saying that goes: ‘It is what it is. Some things in life you can’t change.’ Sometimes it’s better to accept something than trying to fight it and being all upset about it,” Joy said.

She said people often focus too much on the bad, while they should rather focus on what makes them happy.

If she was given an opportunity to push the restart button, she wouldn’t know what to change.

“I think that I’d have to think long and hard about it, but taking pleasure in the simple things in life would definitely be a priority because we overlook them and take them for granted,” Joy said.
