Bikers stand together for the less fortunate

Bikers from all over came together in Randfontein to donate toys for less fortunate kids on the West Rand.

Despite the gloomy weather, bikers from all over came together at the Greenhills Sport Stadium for the Santa Run on Sunday, 23 November.

Neels Jonker, president of Wicked Wheels and one of the organisers, said the aim of the Santa Run is to collect toys for less privileged children on the West Rand. This is a yearly initiative of the West Rand Biking Association.

He added that some of the clubs involved with organising the event were Naughty By Nature, Red Heart Riders, Scream, Soldiers For Jesus, Silent Soldiers and Good Company.

We collected about 4 000 toys as well as some money during the day that will be going towards the less privileged who need it the most.”

He explained that it takes about a day to collect and sort out all the toys, and it takes from the end of November until middle December to hand out everything at schools and orphanages just in time for Christmas.

“Organisations send us a list of their needs as well as the age groups so the toys that are donated during the Santa Run can be sorted into the right categories. Bikers then come together to spread some Christmas joy,” said Neels.

Neels and the bikers are asking for donations and support from their fellow bikers.
