Youngster faces two serious charges for shooting man during scuffle

The incident happened when the suspect and the victim were in a scuffle

A 26-year-old man is expected to appear before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court for allegedly shooting another man, 37, in the thigh in Waterpan on Saturday, 31 October.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the incident happened when the suspect and the victim were in a scuffle.

“During the scuffle, the suspect allegedly produced a firearm and fired one shot at the victim, hitting him in his right thigh.

“The suspect was arrested and two cases are being investigated – that of attempted murder and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” Lefakane said.
