Drive-by party a success at newly established elderly care centre

The donations the newly established Wings of Inspiration Elderly Care Centre in Wilbotsdal received during their drive-by party varied from bread, sauces, tinned/ canned food and porridge, to toothpaste.

The drive-by party for the senior citizens at the newly established Wings of Inspiration Elderly Care Centre in Wilbotsdal held on Saturday, 27 June was a big success.

The aim was to exchange a bag of food to the value of R100, or a cash donation, for a box of six Covid-19 themed cupcakes thanks to Liza Janse van Rensburg from Devine Crumbs. There were 100 boxes available for exchange.

The donations the care centre received varied from bread, sauces, tinned/ canned food and porridge, to toothpaste. The two directors Anthea Da Costa and Kirsten Richardson were over the moon.

“Linda Hugo and her team comprising Jaqueline Snooke, Christine Potgieter, Maude Bradbury and Liza put in a huge effort to ensure a roaring success.

“Residents of Randfontein and Krugersdorp really opened their hearts to our residents today. We thank all those involved,” Kirsten said.

Wings of Inspiration, a Christian-based non-profit company in Roodepoort has taken the elderly residents of Have A Heart Care Centre under its wing permanently and moved them to the newly established Wings of Inspiration Elderly Care Centre in Wilbotsdal. According to Anthea, a biblical counsellor and one of the directors of Wings of Inspiration, “We have moved them into our own premises situated on Ventersdorp Street in Randfontein. It’s now called Wings of Inspiration Elderly Care Centre.”
