EPR’s latest crime report: 16 incidents reported in first weekend of June

Numerous break-ins at both business and residential premises – EPR.

EPR West Rand has released its crime report for the period from Friday, 5 June to Monday, 8 June with theft and break-ins still a concern.

According to Johan Krogh, general manager of EPR West Rand, their latest report for their client base revealed about 16 crimes during the first weekend in June.

This included numerous break-ins at both business and residential premises, including a high school being targeted in Mohlakeng.

There were also five incidents of theft reported in Glenharvie, Culemborg Park, Witfontein plots and Hectorton, and two incidents of damage to property were reported – one in Westergloor as well as at a school on Main Reef Road.

He said they have also noticed an increase in armed robberies.

The gang, some of them we believe to be armed, may consist of five members who target people’s cellphones and cash. Two such incidents happened in less than 15 minutes at a business premises in Finsbury and at the Hillside plots respectively.”

In addition, Krogh said, there were numerous crime incidents that ranged from trespassing, possession of stolen goods to domestic violence in Aureus, Hectorton and Eike Park.

“We urge residents and especially business owners to be vigilant, specifically near closing time,” Krogh concluded.
