Covid-19 cases in West Rand pass 70 – one new case in Rand West

Gauteng Provincial Government's latest breakdown of Covid-19 cases shows three new cases in West Rand.

Rand West City had a total of 15 confirmed Covid-19 cases as at Saturday, 16 May, according to the Gauteng Provincial Government.

Mogale City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have 45 and five cases respectively. There are six unallocated cases in this District as well. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the West Rand District to 71, with 42 recoveries.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases stands at 93.

On 12 May, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 2 262, with 1 616 recoveries and 25 deaths. Currently 54 people are being treated for the virus in public and private hospitals in the province.
