EPR Security released its crime report for the period Friday, 10 April to Monday, 13 April.
According to Johan Krogh, general manager of EPR West Rand, a crime report for their client base revealed that there were several incidents of theft and business break-ins during this period.
Regarding theft, Krogh said copper cable, a security gate motor, meat and a speaker were among the items stolen in Westonaria, Bootha Smallholdings, Elandsvlei, Westergloor, Homelake, Dwarskloof, Waterpan and Simunye respectively.

Furthermore, Krogh said there were four incidents of business break-ins, specifically in Bekkersdal, Glenharvie, Zuurbekom and Culemborg Park, as well as one attempted business break-in along Main Reef Road in the Randfontein CBD.
With the lockdown extended, Krogh said they are expecting an increase in the above-mentioned crimes, and urge businesses as well as homeowners to be vigilant.
Krogh said a high school in Westonaria was also targeted which, according to the Department of Education, is a nation-wide issue.
Angie Motshekga, Minister of Basic Education, revealed in a statement recently that an alarming number of schools have been vandalised and damaged since the Covid-19 lockdown began.
By Monday, 13 April, 183 schools had been vandalised around the country. Gauteng has reported 55, Mpumalanga 72, North West 7 and KZN 2.
The Department said the minister is working with her counterpart, Police Minister Bheki Cele get to the bottom of these incidents.
