Covid-19 testing in Randfontein, what you need to know

Two Covid-19 testing stations now in Rand West City.

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) confirmed that two Covid-19 testing stations have been operational as of Saturday, 28 March.

They are situated at Randfontein’s Greenhills Sport Stadium and the Westonaria Banquet Hall.

According to Tshidiso Tlharipe, RWCLM spokesperson, they have set up the testing stations along with the Gauteng Department of Health to preliminary test individuals suspected of being infected. If so, they will refer such individuals for either quarantine or self-isolation.

Tlharipe advised that those who believe they have Covid-19 symptoms to go to their local clinic first for screening.

“If you are diagnosed with such symptoms, you will get a referral letter to the testing stations.”

According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, there have been 1 353 positive Covid-19 cases and five deaths in South Africa by 31 March 2020.

Dr Zwelini Mkhize, the Minister of Health, is calling upon South Africans daily to continue to stay at home, observe good hygienic practices and work together with government.
