The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has implemented stricter measures to help curb the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Tshidiso Tlharipe, RWCLM spokesperson said mass gatherings have been discouraged until further notice.
“It is important that we support and comply with the directive that has been given by the president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa,” Tlharipe said.
He added that people have been urged to avoid events taking place in community halls, stadiums, sport and recreation complexes, libraries, parks, bird sanctuaries and at swimming pools.
He also said events such as weddings and funerals are temporarily stopped, pending the announcement by the President, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Department of Health.
