Randfontein fraudster sentenced

Man who defrauded three women in Randfontein sentenced.

A 40-year-old man was found guilty on three counts – two of fraud and one of theft – and sentenced to four years imprisonment on each count recently.

Captain Karlien Coombe of the Randfontein Police investigated the case.

According to Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson, a few years ago the man promised three women RDP houses and asked them to make a payment into his bank account, which they did.

“When they noticed people moving into the promised houses they went to the man, who told them that they would be moving into their houses at the end of December 2016.

“They never heard anything from the accused again and went to the Department of Housing where they were told that he was not working there. The women then decided to open a case of fraud against him.”

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Randfontein Police station commander applauded the member for her hard work and dedication.
